What is Veterans Day?

While those who died are also remembered on Veterans Day, Veterans Day is intended to:

–  Thank and honor all those who served honorably in the military – in wartime or peacetime.

–  Veterans Day is intended to thank living Veterans for their service,

–  To acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated,

–  To underscore the fact that all those who served – not only those who died – have sacrificed and done their duty.

The one thing not mentioned above is that Veterans Day is for all of you.

All the men, women, children, and elderly, frail that remain at home.

Our Fight- Is YOUR Fight-

When we bleed- YOU bleed with us-

When we are lost- YOU wait for us…

And if we Fall- YOU help to pick us up.

Some Quotes about Fighting for Freedom

From President John F Kennedy

“And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

The Soldier…

 – It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.

– It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.

– It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

One response to “To Alma Public Schools: Veteran’s Day, 2023”

  1. Frank,
This is Dave Salerno. I lived on Princess Drive in W. Lafayette. We were friends and playmates in the mid to late 60’s. Both of our fathers were professors at Purdue Univ.
I’ve been trying to contact you for a while now. I came across Unwritten Feathers and the Perfusion websites after doing some searching.
I’ve read much of what you’ve posted on Unwritten Feathers. You’ve certainly led a fascinating life after leaving Indiana.
My e-mail address is dk_salerno@comcast.net. I would love to hear from you.
