Editor’s Note:
This is Not beating a dead horse after all- I think it’s pretty clear that it is certainly pretty inanimate and lifeless at this point- right? So it stands to reason that a dead horse obviously cant feel the frustration being laid upon it.
But it still remains right there there in front of us… Impossible to hide. A dead Equine in the middle of the road- with a lot of baggage not so easily buried or set aside from the view of the general public.
Sucks to be a horse- especially an abandoned one.
So let’s sidestep stupid metaphors for the moment and get down to brass tacks.
There is absolutely nothing elegant about lying overtly to a heart surgeon in the middle of a case- about a major fuck up. And then hiding behind a lie.

CODE OF ETHICS
A code of ethics acknowledges a profession’s acceptance of the responsibility and trust conferred upon it by society and recognizes the internal obligations inherent in that trust. The following paragraphs delineate the standards governing the conduct of members in their professional interactions with patients, colleagues, other health professionals, and the general public. Realizing that no code can encompass all ethical responsibilities of the members, this enumeration of obligations in the code of ethics is not comprehensive and does not constitute a denial of the existence of other obligations, equally imperative and not explicitly mentioned herein. This code of ethics shall be binding on the members of this Society.
